From the Observer-Dispatch (hat tip TPM)
ACTION ITEM at the end.
Look, attacking the bill on policy grounds is fine. I'm willing to settle for a bill without a public option while most of you are not. As much this friction pisses me off (and vice versa, I'm sure :D), its a disagreement over something quite fucking important. It can be kind of annoying given one's POV, but at least the criticism is legitimate.
But citing hypocritical GOP-manufactured outrage on process issues as a reason to vote against a signature Democratic agenda item is a bridge too far. From the Observer-Dispatch
Arcuri also said he isn't comfortable with the possible Democratic strategy of passing the bill through reconciliation. This would get around Republican opposition by having the House pass the Senate bill, then the Senate would make amendments requested by the House, and the House would pass the new Senate bill. In other words, a Republican filibuster in the Senate could likely be avoided.
WTF? He's not comfortable with a majority vote in a body he's not a member of. What a wanker. But there's more b.s.
He doesn't want to see the bill passed as a "mega bill," and he believes more success would be had by breaking the bill apart and passing aspects of it incrementally, he said.
Which explains why he voted for the House bill the first time ........
This guy isn't a Democrat. He's a guy looking to stay in elected office. Nothing more. Primary-ing Blanche Lincoln (who voted for HIR) might be the hip thing to do, but booting this a$$hole Arcuri from elective office is how you make the party better.
I know we probably won't primary him, but at least we can let him know using the GOP playbook against your own party doesn't go unnoticed.
